I have FSX Deluxe and ADE is much cleaner and easier for me, though I must admin the instant preview of AFX is nice. The saddest thing is that while the developer is working on fixing the problems caused by reverse engineering AFCAD, and not using Microsoft's SDK, he is apparently not getting support to publish fixes/ updates. Gave up pretty quick because of problems with it's code. And that's why it's another one of my favorites, after all these years, it's still useful.
I obviously wouldn't recommend UT to anyone now, I'd just sent them to WOAI instead, where they could lazily get a lot and install it in one click, but those who have been around longer and have kept UT "up-to-date" until Su 07, I think might still have room for UT. With 272 separate traffic files (not counting MAIW or UGA), the balance is starting to shift in favor of those, but I don't think I'll ever get rid of UT completely. Eventually I also removed all imported packages and converted them into BGLs, leaving just the Su 07 Schedules in UT, which I still use as a base today. I fly in North America and Europe, so I mainly concencrate on airlines flying there, but also on airlines which may have undergone significant fleet or route changes. I simply removed the assignments in UT, and made separate BGLs. After it was clear there would be no new update, I starting updating some airlines, separately from UT. They used to release Schedule Updates twice a year, but unfortunately, the Su 07 Schedule was the last one. The schedules especially lacked cargo and charter traffic, so I then started importing packages into UT (another of many great features). The "Schedules" included hundreds of airlines, but not every airline imaginable. After that was done, it still wasn't enough. This was a massive undertaking, but UT is a very handy program and it allows you make simple assignment changes, without having to deal with TTools at all. I went through the process of replacing all PAI models with AIA, FMAI, FSP, etc. Although enough for me for a while, I eventually discovered other models, such as those from AI Aardvark. UT came with many models (PAI) and many liveries and it was quite easy to fill in the missing textures by browsing the PAI Library.
So I did a little investigating and finally decided to go with Ultimate Traffic. Although PAI had many packages available, I wanted more.
A long time ago, when I first got interested in AI, I downloaded and installed all the PAI packages.
